Locally sourced is sustainably sourced.
As aquarium hobbyists, nature is incorporated into every element of our hobby, and yet most large pet supply companies fail to protect the natural habitats that our fish come from. By purchasing locally-bred fish and shrimp, locally-grown plants, and supporting nearby small businesses, we can reduce carbon emissions from worldwide shipping that result from obtaining fish from overseas, and reduce our overall impact on the ecosystems that inspire us everyday.
My story
I am a life-long tropical fish hobbyist and have been breeding aquarium fish since 2020. After many years as a student at the University of British Columbia, I recently graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. Looking forward to developing a dynamic career in biological research, scientific education, and sustainable business practices, I have decided to take a leap of faith and use my scientific and technical skills to build my own business based around a hobby that I love. For the past 5 years I have kept over 20 planted tropical aquariums and have recently added a saltwater tank. Because I spend so much time and energy on my aquariums, I want to expand these systems to provide affordable and sustainably-sourced fish, plants, and shrimp to my fellow hobbyists in Vancouver and across Canada.
